The whole system is really three paper habits: a seat wheel, a flag card per person, and a veto tally. Print this page (button below) or copy the layout onto an index card and a wall calendar — no app required.
On paper or a whiteboard, write each household member's name in a circle. Clip a magnet, coin, or clothespin next to whoever's "in the seat." Move it by hand at each rotation. If the household has fewer than 3 people, skip this — there's no seat to rotate, everyone's flags always apply together.
As a family, pick 3, 4, 5, or 6 weeks and write it in the wheel's center. This is fixed per family — don't change it mid-cycle. Mark the rotation date on the kitchen calendar so no one has to remember or check an app.
When someone enters the seat, they fill out one index card (template below): their Western health flags and their Chinese medicine constitution, self-reported. Pin it near the wheel. It stays up for the whole cycle.
Before picking a dinner, scan every household member's card — not just the seated person's — for any "hard exclusion" allergy flag. Cross those meals off the list first. Only after that, choose meals that best match the seated person's flags.
Anyone can veto a dinner suggestion for the seated person's flags, but only twice per rotation. Keep two blank boxes on the flag card; mark one each time a veto is used. Once both are marked, no more vetoes until the next rotation.
Meals themselves live in a separate recipe box, cookbook, or saved list — not on the flag card. Match the flags on the card to whatever recipes fit; the card is a filter, not a menu.
